Hint of summer

This post was inspired by the fact that, as I just discovered today, tomorrow I will be purchasing tickets for shows by Feist, Damien Rice and Regina Spektor-- and I realized that this summer shall again be filled with music.

***

Music has a way of finding me when the time is right.

It found me as a miserable depressed 14 year old who really believed she was alone in the world.

And it found me again, with a vengence, a little over a year ago. It showed me I was in a rut I didn't even know I was in, and led me out (arguably both indirectly and directly).

It sounds cheesy and cliched to say "I love music", and I've heard that if you don't make music, you can never really appreciate it at that same core level. I really have no musical talent beyond my adolescent foray into musical theatre, but I just know that I get something more out of it now than I had in the past. Live shows just leave me filled with something more than day-to-day life provides.

Music gives to our souls the nourishment that life lacks.

Just a paraphrasing of your last words, but so very true.
