Quotes of the day- Gender stereotypes edition
The scene: Post-dinner at a friend's house, playing Taboo (if you aren't familiar with it, basically you have to get your team member to guess a word without saying the top five words associated with it- e.g., get them to guess "Frequent Flier" without saying "airline", "plane", "miles", "travel" or "discount")-- boys vs. girls.
The players: The Duke, myself, female friend (cleverly deemed Girl) and male friend (cleverly deemed Boy).
***
Boy: New England's quarterback's name with the last syllable taken off!
The Duke: Uh...Braid!
Boy: Yes!
***
A few minutes later...
Me: What a princess rides!
Girl (without missing a beat): A unicorn!
Me: Right!
Boy: How on earth did you get that so fast?
Girl: There really are only two options to what a princess rides... a unicorn or a Pegasus.
***
Could we be anymore stereotypical?

That is hilarious. I don't think I would've got unicorn. First thing I thought of was horse.
Oh wow. We play Taboo, too!! You and the Duke should come over, and we'll invite B's sister and her boyfriend. And it will be the best boys vs girls game EVER.
And I love the unicorn thing. Love. I would've totally gotten it too, but 'Girl' lost me on the Pegasus.
That made me laugh. I like to think that I would have got the Tom Brady one too though. But probably only because he's in US Weekly all the time with Giselle. Damn. I am such a girl.
LoL, that's awesome. I love Taboo! And Cranium. :)
I would've gone for "Dopey". Everyone knows he's the secret casanova of Fairytale Land.
*slaps forehead*
Makes me think of that scene in Trainspotting where the guys are bitching about their respective women and the girls are doing the same about the men. When both sets are asked what they've been talking about the responses are instant:
"Shopping!"
"Football!"

You: What a princess rides!
Me: A prince!

Makes sense, no?
I love that.
I am seriously in LOVE with taboo. But I get so competitive about it. It's kinda crazy, lol.
OMG I would have said Pegasus too! That is awesome!
And by Pegasus, I mean Unicorn...I'm tired. :)
hahahahaha, I love it!
hahaha! I would've had to guess a white pony instead of a unicorn, but that would have been my second guess...
Haha I love Taboo! Minus that I get way too into it and people have been known to lose eyes...
I'm a princess and i never get to ride a unicorn or Pegasus. I'm quite depressed now. :(
Something on your mind Princess? :)
hahaahah that's pretty awesome, I would've said...."a prince?"
But see, that's the good side of stereotypes. The fun side. But I would have gotten the braid and not the unicorn, and I'm a girl. So there we go.
I wouldn't have gotten either. But to be fair, I did just wake up approximately six minutes ago. My brain hasn't started functioning yet. Hilarious, though.
ok a) i looove taboo. b) that is hilarious!!
i had a friend who would always be on a team with her bf. and all their clues were like:
your aunt marg's housewarming gift!
and they'd ALWAYS GET IT. srsly. they'd always win. bah!
Heh, I've never played Taboo but it sounds fun.
I LOVE that game! My boyfriend and I on the same team are KILLERS!
I love Taboo! My brother and I are unbeatable at that game. We've been known to get six or seven cards in one turn. Although, I have to say that I would never have gotten unicorn.
I LOVE playing that game paired with another female! So in sync - always win...
That is one of those games that confirms how well you know your friends. The quicker you know someone, the easier it is.
hahaha love it!
I certainly wouldn't have come up with unicorn.
Camel maybe.
HAHAHA. I've never played Taboo with boys vs. girls (it was always a random mix)....must try it next time. ;)
LOL The last time I played taboo we all ended up on the floor in hysterics over it!
Hahahahahahahah
What a princess rides?
a prince
Yes, I too am a gender stereotype ;) lol
Lots of love to you my friend, m
This was cute! I love to play Taboo as well.
Lol, oh, yes! Of course a princess rides a unicorn. DUH! Lol. That or the princess was riding a prince...
True taboo clue giving in my past.
Me: What I talk about all the time.
Partner:cheese
Me: no the other thing.
Partner: Sex
Me:Yes!
I mean...really.
taboo is amazing. especially when playing with good friends who can finish your sentences. its sick really. how we know the answers to the way they ask the questions. haha i loved it. great post. and since its raining over here lately i think i'll dust off my taboo game and call over the homies!
No, it coulodn't be worse.
I'm stereotypically bad, too. My fidgeting energy works out for many healthy stereotypical reasons.
;)
I'm still in the cracktastick land of dial up. Thanks for the concern and all. Of course, it's a pleasure to catch up with you, my friend.
K and I kick ASS at Taboo!
K: "Sam's dad has a really sweet one of these"
Me: "Moustache!"
Hilarious. Love it.
Haha, classic!
Funny, my clues in games like this are almost always of a sexual nature...
...and my friends always get the answer.
Instantly.
