What I would have written about

Writer's block is a pesky little bastard.

It's one thing to not be in the mood to write.
It's another to crave words, but instead stare fixedly at a blinking cursor.

I know there's no need to problematize it. It is in all likelihood a simple side effect of nothing more than a boring life.

I know I have already broken my yearly quota of posting on the subject of boxes. I have no witty anecdotes other than how ridiculous it was that I was almost happy when I broke a plate and a bowl because it meant two less dishes to wrap in newspaper. Oh yeah, and I posted an ad for my answering machine for free on Craigslist-- who knew so many people still used answering machine, underestimate the value of a comma, and think it's appropriate to demand my contact information in their initial response. Or how one of my bosses, aka. the slick psychologist, made yet another inappropriate joke. At least it wasn't about 2 Girls, 1 cup this time.

Yeah. That's all I got.

(Besides the fact that I am going to get double the DS I expected almost 2 weeks! But that warrants a post in and of itself.)

Things I considered writing about:
How my version of re-potting a plant involves dumping dirt everywhere but the pot.
Why working at Wal-Mart sucked (hint- it includes the Wal-Mart cheer, which is in fact not an urban myth)
How I keep getting scared I'm going to see psycho bus man again
How the world seems to be reminding me that, despite an incurable case of imposter syndrome, I am getting close to being a professional. Which is exceedingly scary and exciting at once.
Why I miss my cat.
How Starbucks reproduce via asexual reproduction on a very rapid, bunny romping-like schedule.
How I'm going to see Radiohead in August!!
The quirks of growing up in a small town.
My fourth (or third and a half, since my third was in a game of truth or dare) kiss, which was given up to a very undeserving boy in a tent.
Why I miss my sister.
How moving means eating those back-up cans of soup, rather than buying new food.

The funny thing is that I could have plausibly constructed a reasonable post out of any of these, rife with some random tongue-in-check references (in brackets). However, it wouldn't have been genuine-- sort of like writing a term paper.

So, instead, you get an ode to the things I didn't write about.
Which I'm crossing my fingers is better than nothing.

I second the "Wal-Mart" cheer curiosity!!

Maybe it's just because my town didn't get a Wal-Mart until I was, like 17--we fought tooth-and-nail to keep them the hell out, but then won eventually... sneaky bastards--but I know nothing of this "Wal-Mart Cheer" of which you speak..

OOoooo I want to hear about the walmart cheer! sounds exciting.

and I love inappropriate jokes... they're like par for the course here.

Oh yeah Walmart cheer. Lets hear it. I imagine it goes something like...

Walmart Walmart in your eye, Without Walmart you will be dead and life will suck.

That doesn't rhyme

writer's block is a pain, but hey... soon you'll have plenty to write about! you will be like a fountain of information - and you can blog all about it :-) you just gotta get through the hump.

you're ode to nothing is fabulous, i love it :)

The results of your writer's block would be like having had a muse to anyone else! Well done. A post about not writing a post. Added bonus - you have all those topics to write about in the future.

Ha! I love this. Great minds must think alike because I have a draft in my folders titled "things I do not say" which is a list of random things that I want to say but seem weird to just say on their own. Perhaps I should follow in your wise ways and just publish it!

Role play. Have a conversation with yourself. Even better...have a conversation with your crazy self.

Everyone has a crazy self. Even those entering the mental health professions.

Starbucks are like Gremlins--keep them the hell away from water!

Glad to read your words as always, anyway that I can read them.

So, did your hockey pool work out?

an ode to the posts that could have been written - now thats something that you can unleash your imagination too.

Wal-Mart cheer sounds like a fun topic, specially since I have been blessed with never having to enter one in my whole life ;)

hope your mind gets unblocked soon pp.

cheers!

I freaking hate moving. But unpacking after moving? Is one of my guilty pleasures. I never offer to help anyone move, I always offer to help them unpack. :)

I knew the Walmart cheer really existed, because I actually saw it happen once. It was very scary. I'm impressed that you survived participating in it.

That is exactly how I feel - I have lots of potential topics to write about, but it's all in list-form in my head.

I heard earlier today of your expanded time with the lovable DS. I consider both of you lucky!

I wanna hear about starbucks!

I want to hear about the post of Wham fans shelling out to see George Michael this summer...but I'll listen to radiohead fans, too!

Repotting sucks (like I didn't do it right and must "repot")...I think we do it the same messy way!

The good thing about imposter syndrome is that it won't let your head get too big, since we know psychologists can trend in that direction. :D

Radiohead are pretty cool, I envy you in that respect.

Not sure about your Starbucks theory.

Psycho bus man, well, I think he's fast becoming a blog legend...

That was first base on a lot of things. I want some second base.
