Quote of the day and other ways to waste time in an airport
"If there is one ironic truth about my life, it's how bitter my own medicine is."
- The Duke
I know. My man is damn quote worthy. It's one hell of a trait in a boyfriend.

I've only had a couple sips of coffee, aka my creativity juice, as of yet.
Just apologizing in advance.
Pros of morning flights:
No line-ups for security.
Customs guy is too tired to question my sexuality.
I'm able to enjoy sunshine at my destination.
Cons of morning flights:
5:30am wake-ups.
Airport Tim Horton's decided that fruit and yogurt are not on the menu, meaning I'm nearly in a carb coma at 8am.
I have a hard time with basic balance on a good day. Try me at a security gate, barefooted, sleepy, caffeine free, trying to manage armloads of bags.

So, yes, my North American gallivanting continues, as in less than an hour, I should be floating somewhere above your heads on my way to Chicago.
... maybe flipping through a Skymall catalogue?
I have been mighty bloggie MIA as of late, getting all my work out of the way for this trip, and that will probably continue for a little while longer, unfortunately. It doesn't help that I also began running a new study last week which, while being very exciting from a geek standpoint, also means that most of my online time lately has been spent recruiting and replying to participants. This leaves me about as excited to spend more time in front of a computer afterwards as I would be to listen to ShaqFu on repeat.
I hate Shaq with the fire of a million suns.
HATE.
But I love sweet, sweet coffee. So I should probably step away from the keyboard and drink some.

Safe travels! :)
Looking forward to pointful quotes about the windy city :-)
That's a great quote..
I'd hate getting up that early, for anything. But I'm glad about the Customs guy being tired. You wouldnt want to go thru that again!
I hate morning flights although it is nice to miss the chaos in the airport. Have a good trip!
Oooh! We should grab coffee in Chicago too at some point! cuz. yes.
AND YAAAAAAY FOR TRIPS!
I've never liked shaq diesel either.
Or airports.
but I do like coffee...
What's wrong with Shaqfu?
You tell me right now!
Shazaam!
I feel for the customs guy, my gaydar doesn't start working until I've had a few martinis in me. Wink wink.
yes have fun! working on studies must be so much fun ( i guess this is a geek standpoint by me- ha). i'd love to get into that down the road.
No line ups at security - always a good thing! My last experience of security was at London City Airport (probably the smallest airport I've ever been to) where we had to queue for about twenty minutes to be searched. Grr.
Are you really already in Chicago? Well, it looks like I might have missed your weekend gallavanting. But, I may be meeting up with another blogger (in from L.A.) this week after work. Quite possibly Tuesday. Interested?
HA creativity juice, that IS WHAT IT IS. I'm drinking some RIGHT NOW.
i've kind of replaced coffee with redbull...and now i've replaced that with diet coke w/ splenda b/c i'm poor. But yes. Hurry up and get to chicago b/c the sooner you get there the sooner we will too! yay
What about Kazaam???
Shaq was brilliant in that!
oh have a great trip!
fyi: i tagged you!

sorry...;)
Make sure to rent the movies, "Shazzam" and "Blue Chips"....quality films right there. Instant. Classics!
If you're flating above my head, your plane has taken a major detour...
Hell, you do some flying!
Safe travels! I'll see you this weekend! Yeah I hate morning flights. Only other benefit is the McDonald's Egg McMuffins. Nums.
Hope you have a great time in Chicago!! It's such a fun city!
i, too, have become scarily dependent on my morning cup to wake me the heck up. and ugh, carb comas....worst. thing. ever.
I hate security queues with the fire of a million suns - all that faffing then they ask me to take my shoes off. Bastards.
But hooray for mega blog-meets! Looking forward to coffee (and other non-specific)-fuelled stories, photos and pointfulness...
Aww, the morning caffeine crave. Mornings are my time, but if they aren't yours stick with the coffee. And yes, your man's words are beyond awesome.
This I understand. I am presently sipping my morning coffee right now!
Do people actually buy things from Skymall? I have no idea.
Brilliant quite from the Duke, nobility AND brains eh?
The other downer to early flights (if you're transferring from long haul etc.) is the potential for a full on "Falling Down" melt-down when MacDonalds refuses to give you a cheeseburger before 11am.
I love that you call coffee "creativity juice."
Have a great trip!
bon voyage!
glad that u took the time to step away form that coffee and quote the duke - he definitly seems to be a guy with moments :D
I'm hoping my Windy City is treating you right. The fickle weather keeps you on your toes if nothing else.
Having just been on two flights, i have to say i hate airports, Birmingham is top of my list.
did you hear they stripped shaq of all his honourary police badges because he called Koby Bryant the n-word in a freestyle rap that made the internet?
enjoy chicago, i hear it's a great city.
Tomorrow, I have to wake up at 430 to get to the airport for a 6AM flight... it's gonna suck. :-(
If you hate Shaq, do not, I repeat DO NOT watch 'Shazam'.
The duke. What a legend.
I have reduced my airport time wasting to only when my flight is delayed but my favorite airport activity remains people watching
Oh I hear you on the bloggy MIA-ness... my google reader is back over 200!! And there's no way it's getting back to Zero before I leave.
Safe travels, I hope your North American adventure goes smoothly!
I find the Skymall catalog FASCINATING. I desperately want to meet the people that order from it....
Who on earth is ShaqFu? Shazzam? What?? I really get the feeling that I'm missing out on something important and life changing!
I meant "Kazaam"...sorry. It was a movie from 1996, staring Shaquille O'Neal as a genie rapper type guy.
Congratulations! You've been added to the "Bloggers I've Met in Real Life" section of my blog roll. :)
Did you read my recent post (Letters) about the guy who sat next to me on our red-eye flight the other night? I would add that to Bad Things About Flying on the Redeye! :)
Still thinking about that other post and wondering why you had to share a room anyway...that's creepy.
