Another note to self (or the one in which I fail at professional impressions)

If one is to write a post about the frustrations of feeling not taken seriously in their professional career for superficial reasons, it would be best to not show up that week to a case conference with a professor sporting a teeny hickey on one's neck-- especially when one has one's hair up.

(Okay, it was so teeny that I didn't notice it when getting ready in the morning. But it felt huge due to sheer hypocrisy. I also had to rock the 80s mermaid look due to paranoia for the rest of the day-- "yes, I meant to have all my hair swept over my left shoulder, thanks for asking".)

(So we regressed to teenagers to celebrate our anniversary. Don't judge.)

(So this has also maybe happened before. Don't judge.)

Haha, that's awesome. I've definitely had to cover up hickeys for work, and I felt kind of ridiculous putting makeup on my neck while wearing a business suit.

GOOD FOR YOU! At least you're getting some.

Nothing wrong with the occasional hickey! After all, maybe you ran into a door.

Also, my own hickey story: My senior year of college, a guy I was seeing came to visit and stayed for a week. He gave me a hickey on the first night he was there and then kept adding to it on subsequent nights, working under the theory that if he stuck to the same place on my neck I would only get one hickey and that's better than none. So by the end of the week I had this HUGE hickey on the side of my neck. Then I went to a debate tournament and made it to the elimination rounds. In the middle of our quarterfinal round, during an opponent's speech, my partner looked over at me and said, REALLY loudly, "Oh my god that is the BIGGEST HICKEY I'VE EVER SEEN."

The whole room fell silent and then the round was put on hold while everyone rushed over to inspect it. I still haven't lived that one down and it was years ago.

I bet everyone was jealous ;) Hickeys are one of life's small pleasures.

I was just saying to my flatmate the other day that I've never had a hickey. Although I once had awful stubble rash all up one side of my neck, that was bad enough!

Ha! I've sported hickeys at inconvenient times too. It happens to the best of us.

Love the story!!! I've not noticed one before as well - and then my BOSS pointed it out. Very awkward ...

I think the last time I sported a hickey was in college. Though I've definitely given a few hickeys since then. Whoo!

Now, now, if it was that small couldn't you have dismissed it as something else like a ... well, yeah, I see.

Oh, I'm sorry but this one made me giggle. And so did Jess's comment. You poor ladies! Love is definitely worth the hickey though.

You don't have to be professional all the time. Specially not when you're on the couch celebrating your anniversary.

ps, the mermaid look is hot.

I'm pretty sure 90's mermaids rocked the same look.

I once had to wear a turtleneck to work, under my McDonald's uniform, for this same reason. Funny.

Oh yeah, we've all been there! I have fallen prey to the hidden hickey and didn't notice until mid-way through the day.

Haha, love it.

Why file this under foolshness, when it should rightfully be filed under fooling around? ehhhh? ;)

Nothing feels as good as kissing the neck of the one you desire... except perhaps being on the receiving end of such royal treatment.

Ooooohhh.... Got goosebumps.

Happy anniversary to you both.

And I think Toaster is right.

Rock on, Ariel!

under the sea (under the sea!) under the sea (under the see!)

OK, my moment of dorky eighties disneyesque kitsch is passed.....

This is also why I have to be careful during sexy time!
