Desperately seeking four-leaf clover

My mind is a very cluttered place these days.

It seems as though I have been struck with an epic streak of bad luck. I've cycled through the series of threes several times over as of late.

I've mentioned a few of these in past posts, such as various bouts of interpersonal drama and angry airline gods

But, seriously, it feels like I am a walking time bomb these days, from the minor (breaking a brand new ornament my friend made me) to the major (a stolen credit card). I'm also cycling through a variety of bad luck areas. I've done physical damage (I actually stabbed myself full on in the finger-- for once I was thankful for my dollar store knives). I've had a weird ailment upon my return. And, today, I re-entered the financial realm, as it looks like my supervisor may have conveniently forgotten to sign and hand in the annual review form for my grant. In the world of bureaucracy, this is substantial-- it means that my payments will stop until the form is received, and then will take some time to start up again. Given that this grant is how I pay my bills, and my supervisor is on sabbatical in Germany, I may have to cut back a little this month. (Edit- Ok, supervisor says he handed it in. Next stop-- departmental advisor, who apparently had it next in line. At least she's down the hall, rather than across the ocean!)

Oh, and while I was writing this post, I received my first phone call in months from my phone stalker.

I know all of these things are minimal in the long-term. I'm trying to view each disruption in isolation, rather than as some sort of omen.

But as I try to sit down to write something insightful, I keep on stubbing my toes on these inconveniences strewn about my life.

I don't want to turn this blog into a bitter land of rants. I want to write about deep and observant things, or comical anecdotes, not how irritated I am.

But, if someone could send a four-leaf clover or twenty, or perhaps a new, uncluttered outlook on life, it would be greatly appreciated.

Stab your supervisor. Might not help things but it'll make you feel better and he sure as shit deserves it for messing that up...

Aside from that I don't have much advice. You could look at it that these are the tough times and it can only get better (it can't get much worse...) Think of christmas - it's only 348 days away.

Ummm.... type with the fingers, save the stabbery for the stalker, and hand your rent, electric, phone and tuition bills to your supervisor.

Tried to do a clover out of x's, o's and other marks above, but blogger squished it!

Oh well. Stick with the plane and it's all good.

plan... I'm in bad shape, too!

I'll throw a penny off the blue water bridge for you. I'm going to Ontario for the weekend to visit some old friends.

Peace out.

A little good news, Ant & Eric, in case you missed my update. The supervisor said he handed it in, so next stop is the departmental assistant, who is thankfully just down the hall.

I guess, given the way things have been, I just automatically assumed the worst!
I'm scared I'm turning into a pessimist.

I'll head down the fields sometime this weekend and see what I can find.

I'm sorry things are shitty... I have weeks like this where everything is falling apart all at once. It'll get better... I'll try to find a 4-leaf clover somewhere...I'm sure I can find a keychain with one on it.

You do write about deep and observant things!

I really hope everything changes for you, and fast, because feeling like it's just one bad thing after another is so draining.

*hugs*

I loved that line. Chin up, Princess. In my experience, things come in fits and tides. If you're on a bad luck streak now, just think of the good fortune one right around the corner!

glad to see things are already improving, in small bits! the stalker thing is no good. and i know all too well the dangers of inattentive knifehandling... good luck - lots of us out here channelling it has to do something, right?

Eek. Good-luck wishes being sent your way, since the snow/rain combo has effectively gotten rid of our clover population.

Rubbing bunny feet for luck and sending good juju your way. I hate that word, juju, yet I can't stop using it.

Hello darling, I'm so sorry you've been having bad luck lately. I know how that feels. And I read that post about your stalker. That must be so irritating. I am angry at the world on behalf of you.

I've been busy since this is my last month at work, but I'll be sending you an email soon. In the meantime, sending you some hugs.

i am going to keep an eye out for four leaved clovers.

i'm so sorry to hear the rut you feel like you're in. i can definitely relate. i have ideas for posts but then get distracted by all the crap i'm dealing with right now. and this?

I don't want to turn this blog into a bitter land of rants. I want to write about deep and observant things, or comical anecdotes, not how irritated I am.

me too, my dear. me too.

let's just hope this all passes. and if it's any consolation - i think your writing is always superb and insightful and interesting. including this one, in case you classify it as "bitter land of rants" =)

(oh! the phone stalker. this freaked me out so much for you ... i also dealt with something like this, and i suspected a very very disgruntled ex boyfriend who had stalked me in real life too and .... it was the absolute worst feeling of invastion that you couldn't really do anything about. good luck, sweetie, i truly hope that is something that gets taken care of one way or another immediately.)

It seems to me that bad luck always comes at once. I am going through that too this last few days but slightly less serious than most of yours - just stupid things in my case, although my boyf's mum was in a car crash the other day which has caused a bit of drama too. Hopefully it can only get better for you from hereonin. From one PP to another, all the best and I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed (metaphorically speaking, of course) that it all works out for you.

Sounds like you could use some good luck! Here's a link to a photo I found. Just print your self out a few or 20 copies and spread them around! http://www.quantumquests.com/Images/4%20Leaf%20Clover.jpg

Everyone's getting phone stalkers nowadays, fortunately mine hasn't bothered me in several weeks.

I hope things get better for you! :)

Well...on the bright side, your phone stalker hasn't become your phone. My ex boyfriend used to bug me every once in a while, and then came a time where my phone didn't ring as much, which was strange. My mom came home a few days later and said, "You know, I kept calling you, but it kept going through to this guy's phone, and he kept answering." So I called my cell phone number, and sure enough, my ex-boyfriend was now my cell phone.

That was oh-so-fun.
